Rope access technicians working on a facade

Specialist services

High access. High hygiene. High care.

CSS Pest Services Limited handles difficult buildings: rope access, guano clearance, anti-contraband netting, sharps sweeps, drains and drone surveys.

Industrial abseiling on a commercial building

Abseil and rope access

When scaffolding is impractical, too slow or simply not allowed, rope access reaches ledges, roofs and facades. IRATA-qualified technicians work on a dual-rope system to the International Code of Practice, so the building stays open while the work happens.

Typical tasks include nest removal, guano clearance, and fitting netting, spikes or gel in gutters, vents and high-rise details. It is often faster and less costly than a full scaffold, which suits commercial blocks, heritage fabric and secure sites. Ask for a free survey and we will say plainly whether rope access is the right method.

Bird guano and nest removal

Accumulated droppings are a slip hazard and a hygiene problem, and the acids eat into stone, metal and membranes. Our teams clear fouling, nests and debris from roofs, facades, listed buildings and tight voids, including areas only reachable by rope.

Clearance follows a set method: contain the area, remove the material, disinfect, and then recommend proofing so the roost does not rebuild. Reports include photographs for facilities and health-and-safety files.

Contraband netting

Secure estates, including prisons, need netting that denies roosts and also blocks items being thrown onto roofs or yards. We design and install anti-contraband systems that stay taut, inspectable and suited to the security regime of the site.

Installation is planned with estates teams so wings, exercise yards and plant compounds stay operational. Follow-up inspections catch sagging, cuts and new pressure points early.

Sharps clearance equipment

Sharps and needle sweeps

Public land, car parks, housing blocks and vacant properties sometimes hide needles and related waste. Trained crews search systematically, remove items in approved containers and leave the area recorded and safe for the next user.

Drain surveys and drone surveys

Drain surveys

Rats often travel in drainage, not through the front door. Camera surveys find broken pipes, open channels and missing caps. We mark the defects, recommend repairs, and align baiting or proofing with what the footage shows.

Drone surveys

A drone shows nesting, roost lines, blocked gutters and roof defects before anyone books scaffolding. You receive imagery and a practical recommendation: proofing, cleaning, or a closer rope-access visit. Read the full note in our news article.
